Oct. 4: Pokrova Potluck at the Chapel
Pokrova — Prayers for Ukraine’s Defenders, Gratitude for Freedom and the Bounty of the Harvest
With just a few weeks to go until Pokrova, there are still two important parish gatherings ahead: Back-to-School Moleben & BBQ Picnic on September 20 and Metropolitan Michael Monument Commemoration & Luncheon on September 27.
Then, on October 4, we invite our whole parish family to our Pokrova Potluck, which will take place at the Chapel together with Sunday School and the children’s art class.
During the Divine Liturgy, we will pray for all of Ukraine’s defenders — those who are defending Ukraine today and those who have given their lives.
Pokrova is about a protection that knows no distance. Across generations, oceans and borders, we remain connected through prayer and memory — under the protection of the Mother of God.
After Liturgy, we will gather around one table. Each family is invited to bring one dish to share — something homemade, a family favourite, something simple or something special.
And the timing feels especially meaningful: our potluck will be one week before Thanksgiving Day. A good moment to pause and give thanks for our children and families, our faith and parish community, for all we have preserved and built together, and especially for those who defend Ukraine and make it possible for us to gather.

Покрова — молитва за всіх захисників українства, вдячність за свободу і щедрість осені
Свято Покрови відбудеться вже зовсім скоро. Але попереду в Каплиці ще Молебень до початку навчального року і сімейний BBQ-пікнік та Відкриття пам'ятника Митрополиту Михаїлу та обід — важливі зустрічі нашої парафіяльної родини.
А вже 4 жовтня запрошуємо всіх на Pokrova Potluck, який пройде у Каплиці одночасно з недільною школою та арт-класом для дітей.
Під час Літургії будемо молитися за всіх захисників України — тих, хто сьогодні боронить її, і тих, хто вже відійшов у вічність.
Покрова — це про захист, який не знає відстані. Крізь роки, покоління, океани й кордони ми залишаємося разом у молитві та пам’яті — під Покровом Богородиці.
А після Літургії сядемо за спільний стіл. Від кожної родини просимо принести одну страву для спільного Potluck — щось домашнє, улюблене, просте чи святкове.
І саме в цей час, напередодні Thanksgiving Day, хочеться не поспішати, а зупинитися й подякувати.
За наших дітей і родини. За віру і нашу громаду. За те, що вдалося зберегти й примножити. За Україну. І за тих, хто її захищав і боронить нині. Бо вдячність — це не лише слова. Це також пам’ять, молитва і готовність ділитися тим, що маємо.
Під Покровом Пресвятої Богородиці. У молитві. За спільним столом. З вдячністю.
