Dear parents, dear children, and young parishioners! Although the summer is only just beginning, we are already joyfully preparing for the new academic year. This year, St. Volodymyr Cathedral will offer two separate catechetical programs — Sunday School for children and the newly launched Youth Catechesis for ages 13–19. Registration for 2026–2027 is now open, and we would be delighted to welcome you among our students.

Sunday School classes this year will be offered at two locations — at St. Volodymyr Cathedral of Toronto and at All Saints of Ukraine Chapel. This year, Youth Catechesis will also be offered at St. Volodymyr Cathedral.

Sunday School for Children

Our Sunday School exists not just so that children know something about God, but so that they learn to live with God. We offer catechetical instruction rooted in Holy Scripture and Orthodox Tradition, foster a strong sense of belonging to our parish community, and encourage our children to live the Orthodox faith through prayer, service, and love.

At St. Volodymyr Cathedral, each Sunday follows a rhythm: at 10:00 a.m. — the Divine Liturgy, in which the children take part together with their families; after the Gospel, the children join their Sunday School lesson; during Holy Eucharist, they receive Holy Communion and return to their families; at 12:00 p.m. — a shared meal in the parish hall.

At All Saints of Ukraine Chapel, the classes are held on selected dates throughout the academic year.

Throughout the year our students take part in special events: opening prayer for students ; the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy for the Cathedral’s centennial (October 18, 2026); the St. Nicholas concert; pysanky writing; Mother’s Day celebration; and End-of-Year celebration. The year also includes Koliada, the Youth Lunch, summer camp, and other community gatherings.

Youth Catechesis (Ages 13–19)

This year, for the first time, our Cathedral is launching a Youth Catechesis program for ages 13–19. Its goal is to help our young parishioners be active participants in the life of the Church and the parish, without unnecessary burden. On most Sundays, this will mean joining the choir, serving at the altar, or greeting people at the entrance to the church. From time to time, there will be additional meetings and talks.

This year’s discussion topics include: practical guidance for Confession and Communion (early November); Koliada as a proclamation of the Good News (second half of January); and “What happens during the Divine Liturgy?” — an instructional Liturgy at the tetrapod (March). The summer opens up time for outdoor recreation, picnics, and summer camp — in prayer and in good company.

Youth Catechesis registration forms are available at St. Volodymyr Cathedral. Дорогі батьки, дорогі діти і молоді парафіяни! Літо лише попереду, а ми вже з радістю готуємося до нового навчального року. Цьогоріч при нашій парафії діятимуть дві окремі катехитичні програми — Недільна школа для дітей та новостворена Катехизація Молоді для віку 13–19 років. Реєстрація на 2026–2027 уже відкрита, і ми будемо щиро раді бачити вас серед наших учнів.

Заняття Недільної школи цьогоріч відбуватимуться у двох локаціях — при катедрі святого Володимира у Торонто та при Каплиці всіх Святих землі української. Також цього року Катехизація Молоді відбуватиметься при катедрі святого Володимира.

Недільна школа для дітей

Наша Недільна школа існує для того, щоб діти не просто щось знали про Бога, а вчилися жити з Богом. Ми надаємо катехитичне навчання, вкорінене у Святому Письмі та Православній Традиції, створюємо для дітей відчуття приналежності до парафіяльної громади і заохочуємо до життя у вірі через молитву, служіння і любов.

При катедрі святого Володимира заняття відбуваються щонеділі за такою структурою: о 10:00 — Божественна Літургія, у якій діти беруть участь разом із родинами; після Євангелія діти долучаються до уроку Недільної школи; у час Святої Євхаристії діти приймають Причастя і повертаються до родин; о 12:00 — спільна трапеза в парафіяльному залі.

При Каплиці всіх Святих землі української заняття проводяться у вибрані дати впродовж цілого навчального року.

Упродовж року на дітей чекають особливі події: молитва за студентів, Архиєрейська Божественна Літургія до сторіччя катедри (18 жовтня 2026), концерт до дня св. Миколая, написання писанок, відзначення Дня матері і Останній дзвоник. Також у програмі — Коляда, Обід від молоді літній табір та інші збори.

Катехизація Молоді (13–19 років)

Цьогоріч уперше при катедрі стартує програма Катехизації Молоді для віку 13–19 років. Її мета — допомогти молодим парафіянам бути активними учасниками життя Церкви і парафії без зайвого навантаження. У більшості неділь це означатиме участь у хорі, у вівтарі або вітання людей при вході до храму. Час від часу будуть відбуватися окремі зустрічі та лекції.

Серед тем для обговорення цього року: практичні поради до Сповіді і Причастя (початок листопада), Коляда як проповідь доброї новини (друга половина січня) та “Що відбувається під час Літургії?” — навчальна Літургія на тетраподі (березень). Літо відкриває можливість активного відпочинку, пікніків і часу у літньому таборі — у молитві та у добрій компанії.
