Honouring Taras Shevchenko at the Chapel (Photos)
A Lenten Potluck held to mark the latest anniversary of Shevchenko turned out wonderfully. Parishioners listened to a selection of quotes and reflections on the life of Taras Hryhorovych—words and facts that invite thoughtful reflection.
Shevchenko transcends time: his poetry is inlaid in our memory and woven into our daily prayer. His word continues to sustain Ukrainians with a prophetic strength.
There is no doubt that our holy—our most sacred—Homeland has a glorious past, a living present, and a bright future. Each of us carries a spark of Taras within us, a “Taras gene” that unites us, awakens us, and gives us an unquenchable faith.
Children recited their poems, completed creative art works, and answered questions in a quiz that included interesting facts about the poet’s life. Having brilliantly completed all the tasks, the participants received sweet compliments (already a tradition for the second year in a row!), because knowledge about Taras Shevchenko undoubtedly makes life sweeter.
The spring season at the Chapel promises to be rich and exciting. It will gather our parish family around faith and Ukrainian traditions.

Вшанування Тараса Шевченка у Каплиці
Потлак з пісними стравами, який був приурочений до чергових роковин Шевченка, вдався на славу. Парафіяни почули порцію цитат, фактів з життя Тараса Григоровича, над якими варто замислитися. Шевченко поза часом: його вірші інкрустовані в нашу пам’ять та щоденну молитву. Його слово підтримує українство завжди з пророчою силою. Поза всяким сумнівом, наша свята, найсвятіша Батьківщина має славетне минуле, теперішнє та майбутнє. Кожен із нас має Тарасів ген, що обʼєднує, пробуджує та дає незгасну віру.
Діти під час івенту декламували його вірші, робили творче завдання та відповідали на запитання вікторини, що складалася з цікавих фактів життя поета. Виконавши всі завдання блискуче, учасники отримали солодкі компліменти (вже традиційні, бо другий рік поспіль!), адже беззаперечно знання про Тараса Шевченка роблять життя солодшим.
Весняний сезон обіцяє бути насиченим та цікавим. Він згуртує нас довкола віри та українських традицій, нашу родинну парафію!
